Free Events Across Utah Help Keep Kids Safe

Every day, 130 Utah children ages 0-14 are treated in an emergency department for an unintentional injury. Utah Department of Health experts say many of these injuries are preventable. During April and May, families across the state can learn how to stay safe during National Safe Kids Week.

“Making simple choices like buckling up a child in a car or booster seat, wearing a helmet, and supervising children when they are near water will go a long way in keeping children out of the emergency room,” said Christi Fisher, Director of Safe Kids Utah.

Free car seat checks, sports safety clinics, and safety fairs will be held across the state by Safe Kids Coalitions and local health departments. Events will be held:

  • Friday, April 23 – Sports safety clinic from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Cache County Offices (179 N. Main, Logan).
  • Saturday, April 24 – Safety fair from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Weber County Fairgrounds (1000 North 1200 West, Ogden).
  • Saturday, April 24 – Car seat checkpoint from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at RC Willey (40 East University Parkway, Orem).
  • Saturday, April 24 – Safety fair from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cedar Middle School (2215 West Royal Hunter Drive, Cedar City).
  • Tuesday, April 27 – Sports safety clinic from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Payson High School (1050 South Main Street, Payson).
  • Thursday, April 29 – Car seat checkpoint from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Monticello Justice Court (33 North 100 East, Monticello).
  • Thursday, April 29 – Car seat checkpoint from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Murray Boys and Girls Club (244 East 5065 South, Murray).
  • Friday, April 30 – Safety fair from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake Center for Science Education (1400 West Goodwin Ave, Rose Park).• Saturday, May 1 – Car seat checkpoint from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Western Park (302 East 200 South, Vernal).
  • Saturday, May 1 – Sports safety fair at 9:00 a.m. at “The Yard” (1251 Kearns Blvd., Park City).
  • Saturday, May 1 – Sports safety fair from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Discovery Gateway (444 West 100 South, Salt Lake City).
  • Saturday, May 1 – Sports safety fair from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at UNITY Park (200 West 400 South, Ivins).
  • Saturday, May 1 – Sports safety clinic at 5:00 p.m., Zollinger Baseball Diamond (61 North 200 West, Providence).
  • Monday, May 3 – Car seat checkpoint from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington City Community Center (350 N Community Center Dr., Washington).
  • Thursday, May 6 – Car seat checkpoint from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Gunnison Market (520 South Main, Gunnison).
  • Friday, May 7 – Car seat checkpoint from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Mt. Nebo Market (965 North Main, Nephi).
  • Saturday, May 8 – Car seat checkpoint from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Home Depot (937 North Westridge, St. George).
  • Wednesday, May 12 – 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Castleview Hospital (300 North Hospital Drive, Price).
  • Wednesday, May 12 – Safety fair from 8:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Fillmore Elementary (555 West 400 South, Fillmore).
  • Wednesday, May 12 – Car seat checkpoint from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Fillmore Elementary (555 West 400 South, Fillmore).
  • Thursday, May 13 – 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Emery Medical Center (90 West Main Street, Castle Dale).
  • Saturday, May 15 – Sports safety fair from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Ekker Hill Middle School (2465 West Kilby Road, Park City).
  • Tuesday, May 18 – Car seat checkpoint from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Ogden’s Super Store (360 South Main, Richfield).
  • Friday, May 21 – Safety fair from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at North Summit Elementary (240 Beacon Drive, Coalville).
  • Saturday, May 22 – Safety fair from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Barnes Park (950 West 200 North, Kaysville).
  • Saturday, May 22 – Safety fair from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Wasatch County Event Center (415 South Southfield Road, Heber City).
  • Saturday, June 5 – Safety fair from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Macey’s Grocery Store (972 North Main Street, Tooele).

Safe Kids Utah was organized in 1995 to address the issue of childhood injuries by raising community awareness, influencing policies, promoting safety, and establishing private/public partnerships.
